Program Overview
The Fellowship provides financial aid and developmental support, ensuring a smooth transition from high school to university. It emphasizes long-term personal growth, entrepreneurship, and leadership, enabling Fellows to seize opportunities, innovate, and contribute to society.

Eligibility
To be considered, applicants must meet these criteria:
- Achieve impressive academic results in Grade 11, with a minimum of 60% in Pure Mathematics or 80% in Mathematical Literacy.
- Maintain a minimum overall average of 70% in Grade 11 (excluding Life Orientation).
- Be in Grade 12 at the time of application.
- Be under 21 years old.
- Hold South African citizenship.
- Plan to pursue a degree in Commerce, Science, Engineering, Law, Humanities, Arts, or Health Sciences (excluding Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Science).
- Intend to study at one of South Africa's top universities, including WITS, UJ, UCT, NMU, RU, UWC, SU, UP, UFS, UKZN, or TSiBA Business School.
Application Process
The application process is a comprehensive evaluation of both academic excellence and entrepreneurial potential. Key steps include:
- Submission of the application form and supporting documents by 30 April 2026 at 17:00 SAST, either online, by hand, or via post.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews in July 2026.
- Successful interviewees will attend a selection camp in September 2026, where final funding decisions will be made.
The Foundation advises applicants to allocate sufficient time for the application, recommending at least two days for thorough completion.
What the Fellowship Offers
Academic and Financial Support
- Full Funding: Applicants from households with an annual income of R1 million or less may receive full funding, covering university accommodation, meals, textbooks, tutoring, and a monthly stipend.
- Needs-based Funding: Applicants from households earning above R1 million will receive funding based on their financial needs.
Entrepreneurial Development
- Personalized Mentorship: Fellows receive one-on-one guidance from Foundation staff and dedicated business mentors.
- Entrepreneurial Curriculum: Access to the Foundation's online entrepreneurial courses, conferences, workshops, and a community of like-minded peers.
- Business Incubation: Support for venture development and potential access to venture funding through E Squared, an affiliate of the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation.
